Chipperfield vying for landmark Paris regeneration

  • Comment

David Chipperfield Architects has been shortlisted to overhaul Paris’ Immeuble Morland office complex in one of several competitions for sites across the French capital

The Royal Gold Medallist is vying against Dominique Perrault Architecture, Shigeru Ban Architects and Ateliers Lion Associés to redevelop the 40,000m² riverside landmark.

The Marais district competition is the most high-profile of 23 contests launched last year by mayor Anne Hidalgo to help Paris ‘reinvent itself’.

Also competing are OMA, Sou Fujimoto Architects, 3XN and Jacques Ferrier Architecture for a new bridge building spanning the Boulevard Périphérique ring road near the Palais des congrès de Paris concert venue in Porte Maillot.

Sauerbruch Hutton is shortlisted against Riken Yamamoto & Field Shop Architecture, Light Architecture and Jacques Ferrier Architecture for another bridge building over the same road nearby.

BDP is meanwhile up against TVK Architecture, Marin Trottin Architects and Host Architects in the race for a 11,000 m2 development within the Paris Rive Gauche Urban Development Zone.

The winners will be announced in January.
