David Chipperfield Architects has won yet another project abroad, this time for the relocation and expansion of the Davenport Museum in Iowa, usa.
The Museum Board of Trustees and Friends considered more than 54 firms from around the world over a six-month period, before selecting the Brits from a shortlist of six. But that six included some of the biggest names working in the us: Rafael Vinoly; Richard Meier; Gwathney Siegel and Associates; Carlos Jimenez; and, from Finland, Heikkinen Komonen.
The £13 million project involves creating a new 7,000m2 riverside building on the Mississippi's 100-year-old flood plain in Davenport, Iowa. The project is due to start on site in 2001.
