The London-based practice Metamode has won first prize in the A8 Tower Competition in Shenzhen, China
Metamode are comprised largely of tutors from the Bartlett school of architecture including chair of the school, Christine Hawley. The practice beat six local Chinese practices to take first prize.
The winning tower proposal is for a 52,000m² office in the Shenzhen High Tech business park and construction is expected to begin in 2010
The proposal incorporates a responsive facade that modulates according to remote data from the digital music sales website A8.com.
The practice have recently won the Hakka Museum and Culture Park competition in Heyuan City, also in China.
