Chichester appeal

news

Architect James Gorst is set to appeal after councillors at Chichester council threw out his proposal for a sensitive modern cottage in an isolated rural setting which would be invisible from the road (aj 26.8.99). Last week councillors rejected planning officers' recommendation to approve the scheme on design grounds, one councillor saying it was 'like the wart on the neck of an elderly vicar.' Gorst's scheme had the backing of the rfac, Alan Powers and former riba president Michael Manser.
