Hotel design is set for a boost this autumn when a competition to raise the standard of sustainable buildings in the sector is officially launched. The government's Energy Efficiency Best Practice Programme has thrown its weight behind the RIBA-administered competition, which is geared towards achieving 'holistic hotels' showing sustainable development issues in terms of fabric and services design, energy use and carbon dioxide emissions and capital and running costs. Judges will include John McAslan and prize money on offer totals £10,000.
Deadline for submission of designs is 27 February 2001. For more information call 0113 234 1335.
