CARPET BURN PUT TO GOOD USE

  • Comment
UPDATE

New company Carpet Burns is proof that doing humble household chores can inspire brilliant ideas. In an unfortunate accident involving an iron and a carpeted floor, sustainable design graduate Kelly Atkins discovered that the hard plastic surface created could be the latest eco-friendly way to jazz up an interior. She now specialises in the manufacture of a heat-treated carpet sheet material that requires no stabilisers, glues or resins - just 100 per cent carpet, heat and pressure. The material can be moulded into any 3D form, has a durable, non-porous scratch-resistant surface and is suitable for interior and exterior applications. Best of all, the carpet retains its original patterned appearance. Possible uses include furniture, screed and tile flooring, panelling and tiles. Visit www.carpet-burns. com to find out more.
