Carey Jones Architects has won planning permission for a £30 million mixed-use development in Sheffield's city centre. Construction was due to start immediately after the detailed planning consent was awarded last week on the scheme, which comprises 253 residential apartments, 644 student bed spaces and 8000m2 of leisure and retail use. The design is for a series of individually designed blocks ranging from five to 10 storeys. It is part of the Devonshire Urban Village development which includes a number of 'green' features such as water recycling and car pooling.
