Darlington-based Niven and Niven Associates has lodged a planning application for a £10 million tourist attraction to celebrate the life of Captain Cook with Scarborough Borough Council this week. The Whitby scheme, Cook's World, entails the reuse of a Grade II-listed building adjacent to the site where Cook's ship, 'The Endeavour', was constructed 300 years ago. The project has been in development for the past two years and organisers hope it will make a significant impact on the town's tourist industry.
