Wilkinson Eyre Architects is to enlarge and reclad an east London office block and masterplan a 150,000m 2site at Aldgate East on the edge of the City of London.

Marsh Centre, a 1980s building on Whitchapel High Street, is to be overhauled. 'The key issue about maintaining the building is that there's a retail area below ground and that has to be kept running, ' said director Oliver Tyler. Work is due for completion in 2003 after a detailed application is submitted this autumn. That application will be accompanied by an outline planning application for the masterplan of around 4ha of land.
