Broadway Malyan has bucked the global economic slowdown after picking up a pair of prize projects.
The practice landed its first scheme in Canada last week - the masterplan of the regeneration of East Village in Calgary, Alberta – and has now been submitted plans for the £84-million Bournville College as part of the redevelopment of the former MG Rovers works at Longbridge, Birmingham.
The competition-winning 55ha Canadian project aims to create a ‘sustainable urban living community’ for up to 12,000 new residents, with a focus on the provision of new ‘arts and cultural facilities’ on the riverside plot.
Phil Bonds, the practice’s director for masterplanning and urban design said: ‘This appointment opens up new horizons for us.’
Meanwhile the Bournville scheme will bring together the college’s existing three campuses, currently based at Northfield, into a six-storey facility at the heart of St Modwen’s regeneration of the 189ha former car plant.
