Broadway Malyan has revealed images of its £6 billion masterplan for the creation of New Sadr City in the capital of Iraq
Called ‘10x10’, the project covers a 17km² area close to the Sadr City suburb of Baghdad. The masterplan is named after its $10 billion value and ten-year delivery programme.
Broadway Malyan director John Turner said: ‘The completion of the concept masterplan is a major milestone in the creation of a sustainable community with a strong identity for over 500,000 inhabitants which will ease overcrowding in Sadr City.’
Broadway Malyan won the appointment after an open competition in 2009. Design work started in April 2010. Design and build tenders have been invited and submissions are being assessed.
