British Museum

The British Museum has won planning permission on its £75 million plan to convert a postal sorting office on London's New Oxford Street into a study centre.

The green light for the HOK International-designed scheme (right) follows the opening in the autumn of Foster & Partners' Great Court at the nearby museum. The study centre will present the collections as 'an open archive' with a 12-storey atrium and a double-height internal street running the length of the building.
