TECHNICAL & PRACTICE - UPDATE

Technical Drawing Bert Bielefeld and Isabella Skiba Birkhäuser, 2007, £9.90 Another in the Birkhäuser Basics series, this well-presented introduction to technical drawing is intended for beginners but would also be useful for anyone who wants to learn how to read plans, sections and elevations.

Drawing conventions are clearly explained, as well as the different types of drawings appropriate to the various stages of design.

Historic Scotland has recently published six more titles in the 'INFORM: Information for Historic Building Owners' series. Covering topics such as the maintenance of iron gates and railings, cleaning sandstone and interior paint finishes, these eight-page brochures highlight problems and give advice on 'selecting modern equivalent finishes.'
