Blair says 'arriba' at the RIBA during post-election party

  • Comment

Prime minister Tony Blair dropped in to the RIBA's headquarters building in Portland Place last week at a Mexicanthemed 'thank you' bash arranged for election staff.

The event last Wednesday at the institute's revamped Florence Hall was kept a hush-hush affair for security reasons, but chief executive Richard Hastilow was on hand to greet the PM and invite him in, telling him he hoped Blair would enjoy the party.

The Trade Union and Labour Party Liaison Organisation hosted the event - Blair was the key guest and gave a five-minute speech to an audience including his deputy, John Prescott.
