Black practices target top 50 with new client base

  • Comment

The Society of Black Architects (SOBA) will next month launch a business forum with the aim of elevating at least six black practices to the UK's top 50 within five years.

The forum will lobby potential clients from the sports and entertainment sectors such as the BBC, Sport England and Channel Four in an effort to generate new areas of business for SOBA practices. There are currently 13 member practices and the forum aims to double this.

'The situation as it stands reflects a huge waste of talent, ' said forum co-ordinator Elsie Owusu. 'Some black practices may have more to give than many white practices which don't face the same obstacles.' The forum launch will be on 4 November.
