Bison Manufacturing, the UK’s leading precast concrete manufacturer, has supplied its Hollowcore floors and staircases for a new build school delivered under the £170+million Hackney Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.
The completion of Cardinal Pole Catholic School in East London succeeds a line of successful BSF funded projects to which Bison has contributed.
Bisonworked closely with contractor Mansell from the early design stage to provide 9,549m2 of Hollowcore flooring and 37m3 of staircases to the project, all with Bison’s unique machine fitted certified lifting hooks to facilitate safe and efficient on-site installation.
Mansell finished the installation to an exceptionally high standard, caulking the joints in the exposed concrete soffits, before coating the ceilings with standard emulsion paint.
Gordon McNulty, Project Manager at Mansell, said: “Past experience of working with Bison Manufacturing told us their concrete soffits would be of the desired high standards required to leave exposed and they did not disappoint. Their teams were extremely helpful and provided valuable ongoing support throughout the project, which undoubtedly helped to contribute to the overall success of this ambitious Cardinal Pole BSF project.”
Russell Harper, Head of Sales and Estimating at Bison Manufacturing added: “This schools project has been delivered to an exceptionally high standard by the Mansell team and the finish of the exposed soffits looks superb. The fact that the soffits have been coated with rollers using standard white emulsion paint is very impressive and one of the best finishes to a project we have seen.”
The thermal mass properties of the specified Hollowcore units ensure natural energy saving and compliance with thermal performance requirements.
The new Cardinal Pole School will open its doors to pupils’ ages 11-19 year in September 2012.
