BFAW lands West Berkshire Museum revamp job

  • Comment

[First look] Buttress Fuller Alsop Williams (BFAW) has been appointed to redevelop the West Berkshire Museum in Newbury

The project replaces a 1930s link between the town’s 17th century Grade I-listed Cloth Hall and 18th century Grade II*-listed Corn Stores which currently house the museum.

BFAW is also working on access improvements and new visitor circulation within the buildings. The museum’s exhibition spaces are undergoing a comprehensive redesign as part of the scheme.

West Berkshire Council appointed BFAW to the job following a successful first round application to the Heritage Lottery Fund last year. In July, the Headley Trust donated £40,000 towards the project.

The proposal is currently out to consultation and expected to be submitted for planning in the coming months.
