London-based stadium specialist Sport Concepts has won the job to rebuild Hungary's national indoor sports arena with this 12,000-seater design for Budapest. The new stadium will be built on the site of the city's previous arena, which was destroyed by fire last December.

Sport Concepts is working with local architectural and engineering consultant Kozti, and the building will feature a 200m running track. It is scheduled to be ready to host the World Indoor Athletics Championships in 2004. In July the firm scored another sporting success by winning with SOM the design for a new stadium in Faro, Portugal, which will be one of the venues of the 2004 European Championships.
