Glasgow Provost Pat Lally was much in evidence during the City of Architecture launch celebrations, pictured displaying his regalia at the launch of the 'Winning' exhibition of sports clothes and gear, displayed in Ron Arad-designed spheres. He won words of praise from Jeremy Isaacs, also a son of Glasgow, who launched the show in the McLellan Galleries, as a great champion of the city and a great politician. He didn't mention the provost's long-running battle, in and out of court, with the Labour party factions out to remove him from office. They failed; he has this year to go, and will then publish an autobiography which one imagines will make the sparks fly.
