Bernerd to clarify plans for South Bank

  • Comment

South Bank chairman Elliott Bernerd may call a special briefing to clear the air over the stalled plans for the South Bank Centre.

The glass roof by Richard Rogers Partnership is on permanent hold, although Bernerd has refused to rule it out completely. 'We are unrolling a new sheet of tracing paper over what's been, and starting again,' said a spokeswoman at the South Bank Centre. She added that it was highly unlikely the Rogers scheme would go ahead, but said it had proved useful ground work for future planning.

The briefing is planned for June.
