Belsize unveils £4.9m Saudi scheme

[First look +plans] Belsize Architects has unveiled this 9,000m² office and retail scheme in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia

The £4.9 million scheme for developer Marwan Al-Turki Projects is currently on site and planned to complete in December.

Designed to mitigate the harsh local climate – the building features narrow windows set into deep recesses and a series of cuts to create shade.

The ground and first floors will contain retail units while offices occupy the upper three storeys. A two-storey basement car park is also included.

Studio director Shahriar Nasser said: ‘As our projects continue to grow in scale and our international portfolio expands, it is very exciting to be working on this flagship scheme in Saudi Arabia.

‘We have worked hard to blend together traditional and contemporary influences to produce a building that will both address a harsh local climate and raise the bar in terms of design quality in Dhahran.’
