Cezary Bednarski is the first winner of the Manser Medal for best oneoff architect-designed houses in the UK. Located in Barnes, the £200,000 scheme is designed for energy efficiency and flexibility.

The live-work unit sits on an awkward site, formerly occupied by a derelict coach house. Although the planning process was prolonged, Bednarski praised the planning officer for being 'prepared to analyse uses on individual merits'.
