BDP has completed its £48.5 million overhaul of Victoria Station in Manchester
The scheme, which forms part of a £1 billion area-wide investment programme, has transformed the 1844 grade II-listed station.
The three year-long project creates a ‘gateway to the city’ and features a 10,000m² ETFE-clad roof.
The development also includes a series of mezzanine floors for shops and other station facilities and has refurbished the station’s original 1909 ticket hall.
BDP director Peter Jenkins, said: ‘One of the challenges in designing the new Victoria was to match the standards laid down by the successes of BDP’s previous work at Manchester Piccadilly, to once again blend high-quality new architecture with a refurbishment of the original Victorian and Edwardian buildings.’
