[First look] Alejandro Zaera-Polo’s practice AZPML has taken the wraps off this £3.5 million storage facility for Spain’s High Performance National Sailing Centre in Santander
The 2,500m2project has created a new area for housing boats beneath a public rooftop for water sports spectators.
According to a statement from the practice: ‘This project brings both city and citizens closer to the harbour through a design that integrates an elevated rooftop viewpoint [providing] general wide and clear views to harbour and the bay of Biscay.’
The practice is meanwhile one of 16 firms competing for the £27 million overhaul of the iconic St Petersburg Pier in Florida. A shortlist for the project is expected to be announced next month.
Zaera Polo was a founding partner of Foreign Office Architects before setting up his own practice three years ago.
