AZPA renamed as Maider Llaguno joins FOA offshoot

Alejandro Zaero-Polo Architecture (AZPA) has teamed up with former Foreign Office Architects (FOA) architect Maider Llaguno to become AZPML

The new identity comes two years after FOA founding partners Zaero-Polo and Farshid Moussavi set up separate studios.

AZPA – which held onto FOA’s £600 million Birmingham New Street overhaul – has been renamed AZPML to recognise the new recruit.

Llaguno worked in FOA’s London office between 2006 and 2009 when key projects included New Street and the now-shelved Trinity.EC3 redevelopment in the City of London.

The ETSA Barcelona and Columbia University graduate has previously taught at Columbia and the Yale School of architecture.

She is also a scientific assistant at the ETH Zurich Institute of Technology in Architecture and is completing a PhD supported by the Basque Department of Education.
