Award recognises projects which add to community

An award for the best lottery projects has been launched by deputy prime minister John Prescott with the support of the Millennium Commission, detr, the Construction Industry Board and the Major Contractors Group. The Celebrating Construction Achievement Awards will go to 12 projects (one in each English region, plus Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) showing excellence in design and construction which have made a major contribution to their local economy and community.

The winners will be announced later in the autumn. The winning schemes will form the basis of a travelling exhibition next year. Applications from cca Awards Office, c/o Camargue House, Wellington Road, Cheltenham, Glos. GL52 2AG. Closing date is Friday 8 October.
