Austin:Smith Lord figurehead Rob Firth moves on - again

  • Comment

Rob Firth has joined HOK just eight months after jumping ship from Capita Architecture to work for Austin-Smith:Lord (ASL)

In April 2010, Firth announced he had given up his position as Head of Architecture at Capita to return to ASL - the practice he had originally left to join the architectural giants nearly six years ago

Firth’s latest move comes as ASL completes a ‘root and branch review of its structure’ which will see the AJ100 big hitter focus on transport, industry & infrastructure, building renewal, urban regeneration and international arts and culture.

Speaking about the restructuring, Firth said: ‘The way the partnership has embraced a revised structure in such a short time has been very impressive.

‘I anticipate the markets they are aiming at will suit the enormous expertise and experience within Austin-Smith: Lord. In focusing on their specialist work in key areas I am sure they are steering a successful course through the tough economic times ahead.’

Meanwhile Firth admitted he was ‘delighted’ to be joining up with HOK as a director where he will ‘lead efforts to grow the practice by expanding existing and new markets and sectors, both in the UK and abroad’.

He added: ‘I am very enthusiastic about being part of such an innovative global practice which is at the forefront of BIM integration and client strategies.  I feel HOK have been too modest about their achievements, which frequently involve ingenious solutions to very complicated projects.’

Key appointments at ASL following the practice’s restructure:

Transport: Neil Musgrove
Industry & Infrastructure: Ian Brebner
Renew: Jennifer Dixon
Urban Regeneration: Neil Chapman
International Arts & Culture: Nadim Khattar
