Austin-Smith:Lord closes London office

Austin-Smith:Lord (ASL) has decided to close its London office almost four months after filing for insolvency

ASL’s King’s Cross studio will close forcing its remaining staff into redundancy, it is understood.

Last month ASL partner Ian Brebner jumped ship to join global giant AECOM.

In November last year ASL filed a notice for a company voluntary arrangement just days after it announced it was making 70 staff redundant.

Neil Chapman, executive partner at ASL said: ‘It is with great regret that we have had to come to this decision, but few practices at the moment have the headroom to support unprofitable parts of the business and despite our best efforts we have been unable to secure sufficient new work for the team in London.

‘We have looked at all opportunities to mitigate redundancies, both within and outside the practice, and are keeping staff abreast of developments.’
