Atmos builds Floating Forest

Atmos has used grass and CNC-carved plywood to create these boats available for hire as part of a Floating Forest on the Regent’s Canal in east London

The studio created two boats – named RootLounge and BoweredGlade – both of which are fitted with electric motors.

‘The two together offer an urban slice of English Arcadia,’ a statement from the studio explained. ‘[The boats are] drilled by machine but draped with nature.’

The Floating Forest was launched as part of the Shoreditch Festival and it hoped the project could be extended for use during the London 2012 Olympic Games next summer.
