  • Comment

Atkins has appointed former US secretary of transportation Rodney Earl Slater as non-executive director of its board

The 56-year old Democrat is partner at Washington DC-based law firm Patton Boggs where he specialises in transportation infrastructure.

Slater was secretary of transportation under president Bill Clinton from 1997 to 2001 and administrator of the United States Federal Highway Administration from 1993 to 1996.

Atkins chairman Allan Cook said: ‘I’m delighted to welcome Rodney to the Board. He brings an impressive track record in business and government to Atkins as well as an important American dimension to our Board.

‘This is particularly important as Atkins continues its development as a multi-national organisation, with an increasing geographical presence in the United States.’

Slater joins Atkins’ board today (9 September).
