It was surprising that so little has been reported nationally about the highly significant decision taken by riba Council two weeks ago: that sustainability issues should be put firmly on the curriculum of schools of architecture. President Marco Goldschmied has made sustainability a key theme of his presidency, and the council is obviously taking it seriously. Presumably the Architects Registration Board will get round to backing the idea when it finally comes to its senses. A big exhibition on sustainability will open at the riba shortly, based on the ideas of environmentalist Herbert Girardet. All schools should obviously attend.
