astragal Dome fellows

  • Comment

Honorary fellows of the riba generally have a quiet life but this may change; Marco Goldschmied is inviting a number to take part in a one- day symposium to be held in the Millennium Dome in mid-October, discussing with various sages the design of cities and the issue of sustainable futures. This is part of a wider programme by the riba president to tackle the public perception of architects in the uk as 'remote and impenetrable'; and examine how the profession can respond to future needs in a more proactive way. This will be helped by 'Meeting the Challenge', the excellent but so far rather underplayed document setting out strategies for the profession over the next five years. Marco is sending the document to Dome invitees, many of whom will no doubt appreciate the section devoted to design for an ageing population.
