[SMALL PROJECTS 2011 - BEST OF THE REST] Transformation of part of an special education needs school playground into a new outdoor learn and play area
Make:good were commisioned was to transform an abandoned corner of the school into a learn and play area.
Children were invited to explore and engage with temporary spaces in order to learn and design the play and learn area.The space can be transformed into any theme for any learning objective with the help of a series of timber fins. The softwood fins are attached to the boards to animate the surface and allow fixtures and objects to be tyed to them.
Much of the childrens education involves multi-sensory experiences. An important experience is the feeling of water. A sink has been added with a white translucent canopy with holes in allows rain to be experienced in a controlled maner.
