Arty facts

On 1 May the Hyman Kreitman Research Centre at Tate Britain will open.

Designed by John Miller & Partners, it will contain a wealth of archival material - manuscripts, sketchbooks, maquettes, photographs etc.

Most intriguing, though, will be the artists' ephemera, including Turner's palette, Paul Nash's paintbox, Naum Gabo's Moebius strip made from the rind of a gourd, and even Sickert's painting overalls. When will we get the architectural equivalent?
