CABE chairman and Stanhope chief executive Stuart Lipton was knighted last week for services to the property industry and to the environment. He welcomed the award and said: 'The honour affirms the fact that the built environment is increasingly being seen as a national asset which must be innovatively and thoughtfully developed.' Cambridge University professor of architecture Peter Carolin and chairman of the Construction Industry Board Christopher Vickers received CBEs, while Habitat design chief Thomas Dixon and commentator Deyan Sudjic both received OBEs. RIBA members David Wyn Thomas and Christopher Wildblood were awarded an OBE and MBE respectively.
