A team from Brady + Mallalieu Architects, Bovis, interior design company Zebra, and landscape architect Groundwork Hackney, acted as 'mentors' in a four-week design project at the Sacred Heart High School, Hammersmith.

Groups of 160 14-year old girls designed an artist's house, gallery and sculpture garden for a local site (see below). Designer Thomas Heatherwick acted as client, and the pupils role-played as project manager, landscape architect and interior designer. The team hopes other schools will include architecture on the curriculum, and plans a school design competition for Architecture Week 2000. Details: 0208 880 1544.
