Archial collapse 'is symptomatic of recession' says RIBA

RIBA president Ruth Reed has spoken of her disappointment ‘and concern’ on hearing about the demise of architectural giants Archial

Yesterday (22 September) the 500-strong company officially announced it had gone into administration - a shocking collapse which Reed described as ‘sadly…symptomatic of the current economic situation’.

She said: ‘The news that Archial has gone into administration has been met with great regret and concern at the RIBA, given the importance of the company as a large and highly respected architectural practice and a significant employer.

Sadly it seems symptomatic of the current economic situation

‘We are not aware of the particular circumstances which have led to this unfortunate turn of events. Sadly it does seem symptomatic of the current economic situation, and the ensuing difficulties experienced by the architects’ profession as a whole.

She added: ‘The RIBA’s latest Future Trends Survey revealed that architects are currently experiencing a further drop in overall workload levels, and August was the sixth consecutive month in which our key Future Workload confidence index has fallen.”

  • Don't know how much is to do with the recession. I'm afraid there is no way around it, you need to pay your tax.
