ARB tried to withdraw offensive leaflets

  • Comment

Your article 'arb exhumes 'trade union' jibe - and enrages riba' (aj 6.5.99) would seem to suggest that arb has deliberately gone out of its way to upset the riba.

This is not the case. The student leaflet to which riba took exception has indeed been withdrawn. However, the number of students attending the seminar at Kingston University on 14 April greatly exceeded expectations, and although the majority of students received the revised leaflet, others apparently received the earlier version. These leaflets had been left over from an earlier visit to the university by arb, but had not been destroyed.

Consequently, there is no question that arb has acted provocatively or deliberately.
