This month final demand letters from the Architects Registration Board will land on the doormats of 5,000 architects who are late in paying their £55 registration fee.

Their non-payment means a hole in the ARB's accounts of £275,000, and represents a worse response to the autumn's round of subscription demands than the previous year. At the same time, the ARB has declared a surplus on its account of £200,000.
