Apartment building, Charlotte Quay

Dublin Architect: O'Mahony Pike Architects

Dublin's former dockland area is being regenerated. One of the first buildings to be erected by the quayside, and one of the tallest in the city,is a 17-storey apartment block. The concrete frame structure is clad with spandrels and mullions of polished white precast which contrast with the charcoal-grey polyester powdercoated window frames.Precast cladding panels were chosen for the high quality of finish;the higher cost of a prefabricated, factory-finished component was more than justified,in the architect's view,by the faster erection time and quality control.
