Anglia Polytechnic University has picked an illustrious shortlist for the design of an £8 million Centre for Business Management and Postgraduate Studies for its Chelmsford site. They are: Wilkinson Eyre Architects, Rick Mather Architects, Edward Cullinan Architects, Erick van Egeraat Associated Architects and Pawson Williams Architects. The building will be the Essex base of the Anglia Business School. The jury includes Richard Feilden of Feilden Clegg Bradley and Bill Taylor of Michael Hopkins.

...and Suffolk five more

Suffolk County Council has shortlisted five architects to design a £1.4 million new road bridge for the town of Sudbury in an RIBA competition. They are Clash Associates with engineer Robert Benaim and Associates; McDowell & Benedetti with Price & Myers; Yee Associates with Maunsell; Brookes Stacey Randall with Ove Arup & Partners and Studio E Architects with Techniker. The winner will design a replacement for the Suffolk town's Ballingdon Bridge, built in 1911 of reinforced concrete with three main spans. The new crossing will carry the A131 over the River Stour, linking Sudbury to the villages of north west Essex and on to Halstead and Braintree.
