  • Comment

Five practices have been shortlisted in the competition to design a new £8.8 million college building for City & Islington College in London. Wilkinson Eyre Architects, Alsop & Stormer, Hodder Associates, Edward Cullinan Architects and van Heyningen & Haward have been picked from a field of more than 70 applicants to design the new building in Angel, Islington. The new design must work with the existing refurbished 4000m2, building which is currently in use, to create a total space of 8,000m2. The five practices will be asked to present their plans to a judging panel being run by the riba competitions office in early March. It will go on site early next year and is due for completion in September 2002.
