Sir Norman Foster was on top form when he addressed the American Institute of Architects' international conference in London this week, describing the impact America had on him as a student at Yale in the 1960s. An evening reception at the Reform Club was a less serious occasion, with visiting Yanks relaying latest thoughts and jokes about their president - Mr Clinton, that is, not the president of the aia.
