I have really enjoyed reading Will Alsop's lively and insightful columns over the past few months, and I am pleased to see his emphasis on people in design, but sometimes his views seem so idealistic as to be unconsidered. For example, he says that he doesn't like style and he vilifies 'buildings' (AJ 5.4.01).
But where do his high morals leave people who have to design 'buildings' for a living? Not all of us have the freedom to design brightly coloured, painterly 'architecture'.
