It's official: Alsop & Stormer has won the competition to masterplan the 20ha area around Rotterdam central station, as revealed in the AJ three weeks ago (23.3.00). The plan will be based around a new high-speed rail link into Rotterdam and will feature a revamp of the station, linking streets and squares around the station and building a major car park for the station to keep the surrounding streets largely car-free. The £800 million scheme will also include 700 dwellings, 200,000m2 of offices and 100,000m2 of shops and entertainent.
