Allies and Morrison takes Reading scheme back to the drawing board

  • Comment

Allies and Morrison is working on revised plans for a major mixed-use redevelopment project in Reading previously designed by Scott Brownrigg and Chapman Taylor

The £400 million Station Hill scheme was bought by developer Stanhope earlier this year but was approved for planning in 2008.

It is understood the 158,000m² scheme could now be reduced in size however a spokesperson for the developer said ‘we are just looking at blocks on the drawing at present.’

A series of workshops, a public exhibition and high-level meetings with councillors are expected to take place prior to images of the scheme being revealed.

While the previous project consent (pictured) remains valid a revised outline planning application is expected to be submitted next year.

Scott Brownrigg and Chapman Taylor’s scheme was called in by communities secretary Hazel Blears and was also critised by CABE on four separate occasions.
