AKZO NOBEL Timber treatment breaks Tube fire link

  • Comment

Throughout the three-year refurbishment of Earl's Court Station, passengers on London Underground can feel safe in the knowledge that timber shuttering for the platforms, hoarding and walkways is all protected by Crown Trade's flameretardant Timonox system from Akzo Nobel. Meeting strict safety criteria, the timber was treated at principal builder D&D's warehouse, with an intumescent basecoat in white, and a vinyl matt finish in brilliant white.

The system works by breaking the triangle of heat, fuel and oxygen needed for fire growth.
