AJ120 #=65: Avanti Architects

  • Comment

36 employed architects, 28% female architects, =61st position in 2014

With a reputation for sensitive reworking of listed buildings, Avanti Architects grew its London and Ireland offices in 2014 with major project wins including Walworth Town Hall and the London Clinic. Last year it was also reappointed to take forward a scaled-back scheme for the preservation of St Peter’s Seminary at Cardross (and shortlisted for the revamp of the Mack). Other work is concentrated in the health and education sectors, with two hospitals currently on site. Challenges ahead include further public sector cuts and recruitment of talented staff. Director Amir Ramezani says: ‘Recent opportunities have come increasingly from a new crop of clients, which are focused on regeneration projects featuring complex briefs.’
