It has been an interesting year for John McAslan’s practice. The company has continued to increase its international work, with overseas commissions now making up 50 per cent of turnover. During the past 12 months the firm completed a mosque in Doha, the initial stage of the Bolshevik Factory redevelopment in Moscow and the first phases of its masterplan for the Kigali Memorial Centre in Rwanda. The company has witnessed a major managerial reshuffle, which has seen the departures of long-term board member Kevin Lloyd and Manchester-based managing director Tony Skipper. As to the future, the practice says that having ‘demonstrated our ability to explore and develop international markets our next challenge is to tailor and deploy these skills for the UK market’.
