51 employed architects, 57% female architects, =44th position in 2014
It has been a bitter-sweet year for the international practice. Workwise, Kohn Pedersen Fox is in fine form with major projects like 60 London in Covent Garden completing and work on New York’s Hudson Yards neighbourhood continuing. The practice also had to contend with the loss of its president Paul Katz to cancer at the tail end of 2014. KPF hovers around the top 40 with a slight increase in staff numbers, but the figures fail to convey the quality of its output, which sees the practice nominated for Practice of the Year, International Practice of the Year and Business Pioneer of the Year. A global operator, KPF has proved adept at weaving together transportation, retail, hospitality and office space into a coherent masterplan, as demonstrated by the Hudson Yards scheme.
